Edgar Degas
This is an oil painting on canvas done by Edgar Degas in 1874. He completed a series of paintings and drawings of dancers and what I love most about them, and this one in particular is how rough it is. It almost looks like sketch. I think the composition of his paintings coupled with his use of color looks amazing. One of my favorite aspects of this painting is that even though it wasn't completed with great detail it still manages to be so successful. There isn't much detail in the face or dress but there doesn't need to be. Its simplicity is what's so appealing about it.
