Picasso's Portrait of Ambroise Vollard was in oil on canvas in 1910. I've never been a fan of cubism in general but this particular painting I liked. I liked how the sharp edges represent different aspects of his face. This is apparent in some of the white edges which are intended to look like hair. Also as the sharp edges get closer to his face they appear to be getting smaller, which gives the illusion of depth. I also liked the use of warm yellows and browns in the face with the almost greenish browns in the background.
