The picture above is called "Listening to the Living" by Matta (Roberto Antonio Sebastian Matta Echaurren). It was painted in 1941 using the medium oil on canvas. It can currently be found in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. I really like this picture. It looks to me as if there is a volcano erupting and you can see the wind twirling in the sky, possible a tornado. I like how you cant exactly see what he is trying to portray. It appears to be like a dream, and I like that aspect of the surrealists. However this painting was by far my favorite of the ones shown in the text book.
